Position Description The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as the Utility Billing Specialist. The Utility Billing Specialist is independently billing, adjusting, auditing and processing utility accounts; Monitoring, analyzing and correcting utility billing discrepancies; Posting receipts, making billing and receipt adjustments; Utilize operational systems daily to schedule, calculate and create accurate utility bills in a timely manner; Generate and analyze reports to identify billing errors, quality controls, billing issues and make necessary changes and adjustments to ensure quality of output; Import multiple receipt files daily, posting payments to customer accounts, reconcile and balance payments posted to the system to ensure proper accounting; Processes residential/commercial/hydrant/water service applications, service termination requests, letters of credit requests, account information requests, and account updates; Performs financial functions such as balancing cash drawers, completing department deposits, posting online/phone/bank payments, entering end-of-day cashier report totals, and posting to the general ledger; Export/sending bills to bill print vendor, reviewing and approving bill results, exporting/sending bills to online bill presentment and payment vendor; Respond to inquiries and requests from internal and external staff on consumption, billing and payments, performing research as needed and communicate findings for further action or correction; and, other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate's Degree and 2 years of related experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Physical Demands Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time. Working Conditions are in an office setting. Depending on assignment some travel may be required.
