Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance, installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance utility systems of the plant, or other establishment by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. , Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Monitor maintenance team for adherence to safety policies and provide training as required. Continually reviews plant for safety issues and utilizes resources to resolve those issues. Set the example with safe work habits. Support predictive, preventive and reactive maintenance with the emphasis on being proactive to maintain the plant's ability to produce product. Works closely with storeroom supervisor to insure adequate parts are on hand to support maintenance Assist Maintenance Manager, and Lead Mechanics, in shutdown planning. Research parts information through working knowledge for equipment and process. Work with Vendors, part manuals, and contractors to order parts. Help develop plans to reduce downtime. Works closely with Process Leaders to identify root causes and determine what action needs to be taken to resolve issues. Directs maintenance mechanics and contractors to fixing the right things right to reduce downtime. Support the Process Leaders in meeting audit requirements for Sanitation, GMP's and Food Security. Provides training for maintenance teams in these areas. Work closely with the hourly workforce to identify needs of training or equipment. Complete yearly evaluations of performance and provide recommendations for improvement for each hourly employee. Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity while embodying the tenets of "What We Stand For" and "The Basic Principles."Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.All employees are responsible for upholding the principles of SQF 2012.All employees are responsible for immediately reporting any food safety, food quality or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises employees in the maintenance department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, making hiring recommendations, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor of Science degree and two years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, an Associate's degree and five years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting, or 10 years of equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial setting. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Maintenance Management systems; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid drivers license Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel 5% of the time with the ability to work throughout the Idaho Campus.
