Position Summary The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities and staff involved in maintaining the plant food manufacturing equipment for major production lines and supporting utilities and facility in packaging. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities A Maintenance Supervisor is expected to perform the following essential job functions (detailed): Direct responsibility for all the hourly staff on all shifts. Develop mechanics technical skills through in-house training programs & facilitate all areas of people management such as corrective action, attendance, PTO, and other plant policies. Ensure that all equipment is operational and OSHA compliant. Enhance existing maintenance programs/systems for all manufacturing equipment to further reduce plant equipment downtime. Operate and monitor the refrigeration system, continuously improve processes and procedures by developing and modifying SOP's. Coordinate purchase orders and maintain necessary inventory of spare parts. Understand and operate within a budget, direct responsibility for R & M and mechanical labor cost. Achieve and sustain world-class maintenance standards through developing direct reports and associated systems. Maintain high level of communication with all levels of organization. Facilitate and participate in necessary training. Review KRONOS punch detail reports and make corrections to ensure compliance with our Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of food processing equipment, equipment support systems such as pumps, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, electrical and process control systems, and utility systems such as compressed air and industrial waste handling. Working knowledge in ammonia, refrigeration systems, preventive maintenance programs, and solid knowledge of industrial electricity and associated standards. Ability to work with/in a diverse work group. Proven/demonstrated project management experience and process improvement ability. Must follow safety standards. Must be PC literate with Microsoft Office programs. Ability to use computerized maintenance systems to track work orders, PM's, & inventory. Able to work in cold & wet environment. Leadership, problem solving and decision making skills. Capable of leading process improvement teams. Strong leadership, training, analytical and problem solving skills. Knowledge of process improvement-lean manufacturing, 5 S, Six-Sigma, Kaizen, etc. Must be willing to work weekends. Working knowledge of Microsoft applications. Other Desired Qualifications/Skills: BS in mechanical, electrical, reliability, or related engineering field Bilingual English/Spanish Master or Journeyman electrical license or equivalent for Industrial electrical systems General Programmable Logic Controller knowledge and experience (primarily AB, Telemecanique, & GE Fanuc for troubleshooting and training purposes) Experience with FDA, USDA, 3A, ISO9001, AIB, and/or other food/quality related systems and standards TPC training experience and knowledge Required Education and Experience Five to seven years of supervisory experience in the maintenance field in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience Physical Requirements Rarely (0-12%) Occasionally (13 33%) Frequently (34-66%) Regularly (67-100%) Seeing: Must be able to read reports and use a computer x Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with others and talk on the phone. x Standing/Walking X Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling X Lifting/Pulling/Pushing x Finger Grasping/Feeling Must be able to write, type file, turn pages and use phone system X Working Conditions The employee is occasionally exposed to wet/cold conditions of 34 36 degrees and also at times hot conditions; high, precarious places (ex: 25 feet above ground level for extended hours); and outside weather conditions (rooftop). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud, which may require hearing protection.
