Research Scientist II Salary $98,113 Primary responsibilities of this position are to lead projects to provide analyses and program monitoring reports to divisions in the NYS Office of Mental Health that oversee and develop programs to serve adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and children with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) in New York State. Projects may also include studies of behavioral health metrics and patterns of service utilization for the SMI and SED populations. This position involves working closely with personnel providing program development and oversight for mental health specialty programs. It also involves close collaboration with colleagues in the Office of Population Health and Evaluation (OPHE). Specific responsibilities include: Design Tableau visualizations and other reports based on requirements of OMH program personnel and other stakeholders Develop work plans for report development and maintenance Develop analytic plans based on project specific needs Extract, clean and process data from a variety of data sources housed in Oracle databases including Medicaid Claims and Encounters and OMH administrative data such as Child and Adult Integrated Reporting System (CAIRS) Develop data infrastructure for both reporting and analyses using SAS and PL-SQL Develop Tableau visualizations and other reports Document data infrastructure and data flows Conduct quantitative analyses using SAS or other statistical software Prepare and present reports and analyses to stakeholders and incorporate feedback and requests Prepare reports, research papers, reviews and summaries for internal and external stakeholders Minimum Requirements: A Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Biostatistics, Economics, or a related social science field and at least 2 years of professional research experience in any of the fields specified above OR a Doctorate and at least one year of research experience. Experience with quantitative study design and statistical analysis Experience with behavioral health care systems and analytic experience with a variety of populations and program areas. E xperience working with Medicaid or other large data systems and relational databases in a data warehouse environment. SAS analytics software expertise, experience with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, Tableau or other data visualization tools.
