Position Description: Trinity Valley School seeks a full-time MS/US Academic Support team member to join the TVS faculty beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. The Academic Support Department at Trinity Valley School: The Academic Support department at TVS exists to champion the strengths of neurodivergent students and to support their unique needs through a team-based approach involving students, their families, faculty, staff, and other experts.Trinity Valley School's philosophy is that teachers are the first and best resource for students in need of learning support. With some exceptions, learning support primarily takes place in classrooms. Academic Support personnel supplement the role of classroom teachers by facilitating individual interventions for students, providing professional development for faculty and staff, partnering with families as needed to monitor student progress, or acting as liaisons among members of a student's "team."Understanding that students are whole people, and that mental health plays a vital role in their overall wellbeing, Academic Support relies heavily upon the expertise of our division counselors to inform Student Learning Plans and ongoing support, drawing also upon the input of our health and wellness teams as needs arise.Trinity Valley School is a nurturing community with support structures embedded in our standard curriculum, many of which may prove especially beneficial to neurodivergent students. Above all, TVS seeks candidates who love working with young people and place students at the heart of their work . TVS welcomes candidates who are willing to engage in campus life through coaching, volunteering with Trojan Outdoor Experience (TOE), leading students on Trojans Abroad Programs, and/or directing co-curricular clubs and programs. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to work collegially across the divisions. Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate will: Hold a master's degree in education or related field (master's preferred; not required). Have classroom teaching experience, preferably in middle or upper school. Have experience developing and/or implementing student accommodation plans. Be comfortable working with students, parents, and teachers with a high level of empathy and commitment to perspective-taking. Possess a working knowledge of neurodiversity, specifically as it pertains to the diagnoses of ADHD, anxiety, and specific learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math. Fully support the four main objectives of the TVS Mission Statement . Recognize, embrace, and advance institutional goals for Equity, Inclusion, and Community . Create and promote inclusive learning spaces in which all students feel safe, honored, appreciated, and respected for who they are. Nurture a deep feeling of community through actions and attitudes. Balance caring and flexibility while holding students to high expectations. Exemplify personal and professional integrity. Work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and seek continued growth as life-long learners. Responsibilities of the position include: Collaborating with the Academic Support Coordinator, Division Administration, School Counselors, College Counselors and Teachers to support students. Maintaining confidentiality of student information, including academic records, evaluations, and sensitive conversations. Attending closely to students' social-emotional needs, relying upon division counselors for expertise, insight, and support. Working with parents to facilitate psychoeducational evaluations and to support the implementation of subsequent student learning plans. Managing student learning plans across multiple grade levels, including guiding teachers in the implementation of classroom accommodations. Facilitating learning support and related programming through multiple formats (1:1, small-group, classroom, grade-level, division-wide). Analyzing multiple data points (qualitative feedback, observations, learning management system, standardized testing scores) to inform holistic solutions. Please see full job description below
