Sr System Engineer - Network

Overview Summary Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots, and documents computer networks and infrastructure. Supports client environments as member of Logicalis' 24x7x365 operations team. Responsible for support, incident management, problem management and change management for devices and resources monitored by Logicalis Managed Services. Provides Tier III engineering and thought leadership for Logicalis Enterprise Cloud and customer owned network environments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Performs design and analysis of IP addressing, network security, internet access, e-mail, DNS, disaster recovery, content filtering, power considerations and remote access. * Participates in Root Cause Analysis process. * Demonstrates understanding of ethernet frames, frame switching, ether types: T-1, DS-3, PPP, and Frame Relay. * Masters assigned discipline within technical offering (i.e.: video, security network management, remote access, and/or routing). * Identifies activities falling outside of standard Service Definition and escalates to management as needed. * Defines Scopes of Work and Bills of Material. * Performs highly integrated designs and high level of troubleshooting. * Develops design schematics using Visio, MS PowerPoint and sketches. * Attains quick problem resolution during implementation and/or troubleshooting of systems. * Serves as escalation point for T2 issues, provides rotating on-call SME support after-hours. * Provides cross-training of technologies to other Engineers and leads System Administrator training as assigned by Architect. * Provides infrastructure technical support of client operations. * Drafts comprehensive changes in support of client operations. * Oversees and executes as needed client health checks in support of client operations. * Executes technology onboarding checklist (integration project) and documents risks in integration projects. * Tracks time utilization using Logicalis standard tooling. * Interfaces professionally with customer as needed in support of client operations. * Remediates security vulnerabilities per process. * Collects artifacts in support of audit and compliance activities. * Contributes to and maintains innovation and improvement register to target quality, cost, performance, and reducing risk. * Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Logicalis through performing behaviors consistent with the organization's values. * Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Logicalis in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors. * Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations. Education/Experience/Technical Requirements/Certifications Education * Associate's Degree in a related field. Experience / Technical Requirements * 7 years in Cisco environments; switches, routers, IPT or firewalls. * Specialty such as network infrastructure, network security or network management. * Proficient use of all Microsoft Office applications. May consider an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications One or more of following Cisco certifications: * Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) * Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) * Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) * Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Other Skills and Abilities * Stays on leading edge of technology by learning new techniques and methods through continual education. Training may require travel and overnight lodging. * Familiarity with company policies and procedures and reviews whenever clarification is required prior to addressing an issue in question with others. * Evaluates, escalates, and exercises good judgment and make decisions based on limited information. * Possesses ability to work as stand alone or in team environment. * Meets deadlines by prioritizing work requests based on sense of urgency. * Strong technical and customer interaction skills. * Self-starter with excellent organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills. * Ability to follow through with tasks, projects, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision. * Outstanding oral, written, technical, and business communication skills. * Superb customer service skills.
