Applications are invited for the role of Research Associate/Fellow in the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. You will be based in the Biodiscovery Institute (www. nottingham. ac. uk/research/research-areas/biodiscovery-institute/biodiscovery-institute. aspx), with access to a range of state-of-the-art facilities. The project, funded by Leukaemia UK, will study the molecular basis of RUNX1-driven Acute Myeloid Leukaemia with the goal of improving treatment options in this poor outcome cancer. Mutations in RUNX1 will be introduced using CRISPR-Cas9 and the functionality studied using a suite of basic through to advanced molecular biology methods including q RT-PCR, proximity ligation assay, RNA-sequencing and ATAC-sequencing. You will work within the lab of Dr Sophie Kellaway as part of the Blood Cancer and Stem Cell group (www. bloodcancerandstemcells. ) and be responsible for carrying out laboratory research, data analysis and presentation of results. A Ph D or the equivalent in professional qualifications, and experience in mammalian cell biology and gene regulation is required. Consideration will be given to candidates who are Ph D students nearing the submission of their thesis. It is desirable for the successful candidate to have experience in some of the following areas: CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, suspension and pluripotent cell culture, microscopy, preparation of samples for sequencing and analysis of sequencing data. The post holder will be comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative environment. This is a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term post for 2 years. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
