Vermonster is a product design and development firm located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. We're looking for a experienced software developers who wants to join us as we work collaboratively with our client partners on strategy and vision, design awesome modern user experiences, and develop and deliver high quality products. We have built a reputation over the last 12+ years as a strong development team with a record of successful and impactful product launches and continuing support. We work with a wide range of clients from Al Gore's Climate Reality Initiative, to American Eagle, to Boston Public Schools, to McKesson. On the server, we find ourselves using primarily Ruby on Rails along with all sorts of databases and hosted services. In the browser we keep up with the state of the art of HTML5 and JavaScript, and are quite fond of SCSS, CoffeeScript, Ember, and Backbone. We make an effort keep current with the ever-changing landscape of tools and techniques in our industry and are looking for like-minded candidates. Our ideal candidate is a full-stack web developer with at least a three years experience who: - excels at eliciting requirements from customers and obtaining a full picture of what should be built and why - has leadership skills to inspire a team and manage client relationships is highly proficient with: - Ruby; or another server language, such as Python, JavaScript, Scala or Java while also being excited to learn and use Ruby - a RESTful MVC web framework, such as Ruby on Rails - semantic HTML5, SCSS, and modern JavaScript/ECMAScript - git, and team workflows using git - the command line has some significant experience with: - agile processes and practices, and has an interest in experimenting with continuous process improvements - deployment operations and cloud/system architecture to support web applications - client-side frameworks such as Ember, Backbone, or Angular - has a professional attitude and is able to take and give clear, purposeful feedback with grace - is interested in the pursuit of software craftsmanship and the continuous improvement of the entire team We pair-program, internally and with our client partners. This is not a remote job; we believe frequent collaboration and physically working together in the same place is critical to our success. Candidates would have to be in the Boston area and able to commute to our downtown office to work. Relocation is a possibility. There is likely some amount travel. Candidates need to be legally authorized to work in the United States.
