WHO I AM? I am a gal named Tracy who likes to tell stories on my blog. WHAT IS THE BLOG ABOUT? iamthefirstbite.com a first ever food blog featuring illustrated children's stories and poems with recipes. It builds awareness of eating real food instead of processed food by tying recipes to memorable stories that are fun to read, have deeper meanings to reflect on, and educate about people, our cultures, and the wonderful world we live in. It also sparks imagination and curiosity for being in the kitchen. ARE YOU THE PERFECT FIT? Someone passionate about food and art. Someone who is interested in going into the children's book illustration industry. Someone who would like to build up their portfolio. Or in the best case, all three! It would be great for this person to have 2+ years of experience working with Photoshop/Illustrator. HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED? I post a new children's story and recipe on a monthly basis. I'm looking for an illustration for my latest story. I'd like there to be a single illustration to go with the story (like a cover of a picture book). Illustration image should be a horizontal rectangle (size should be 4000 x 2250 pixels). The basic process is: I send you a couple poems/stories and you choose one you're interested in. Then we check-in via email three times. Once to talk about the art style and content that I'm looking for in the story you chose. A second time when you email your thumbnail sketches for character and composition. And then a third time after you have a draft colored illustration so we can decide on the color palette. WHAT IS THE PAY? This is a single commissioned illustration for a $75 flat fee. Though, if you are interested in doing more than one illustration we can chat more since I'll be posting monthly. WHAT OTHER PERKS? I will add you to the credits page on my site with link to your website/instagram etc. Potential clients of yours can visit my site to see your work or they ask me for a recommendation.
