WANTED: Registered Nurse LOCATION: 741-925 Herlong Access Road A-25, Herlong, CA 96113 SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, either 5 days per week, or ten hours / 4 days a week, as determined by the Health Service Administrator. Work hours will normally be 6:00am- 2:30pm or 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. QUALIFICATIONS: US CITIZEN Must be licensed to practice Registered Nurse medicine in California or Nevada. Must have at least three or more years of experience. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support. Ability to pass a background clearance / drug test. Providing verification of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education. DUTIES: not limited to: Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff Perform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensure Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intradermal, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly Assist with distribution of medications at pill line Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy Perform skin testing Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays Perform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimens Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and AAAHC/JC policy. Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lab values and notify the physician or physicians. Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality Adhere to infection control policies and procedures Ability and skill to operate EKG Clinically manage injuries by splinting, and immobilizing Attend to medical emergencies Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans Assists in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician Perform duties as required but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws. Assist with all aspects of the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program, within the scope of practice of current licensure.
