Location: San Diego, CA, US Company: Standard Inspection Services Additional Locations: Everett, WA, US Level of Experience: Experienced Reports to: Director of Operations (i.e., General Manager) Summary/Objective: As a WAF Coordinator, you will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the Work Authorization Form process for the repair and maintenance of naval ships. You will ensure that all required documentation, permits, and safety protocols are in place and adhered to, facilitating efficient and compliant ship repair operations. Duties include, but are not limited to: Manage and coordinate the issuance, tracking, and closure of Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) for all repair and maintenance activities. Ensure all WAFs are correctly completed and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Liaise with various departments, including engineering, safety, and operations, to verify that work plans and safety measures are properly documented. Conduct audits and inspections of WAFs to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain and update WAF records and databases. Provide training and support to staff on WAF procedures and requirements. Collaborate with project managers to prioritize and schedule work activities. Address and resolve any issues related to WAF documentation and processes. Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations/GM *Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education / Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field. Previous experience in naval ship repair or a similar industry is preferred. Strong understanding of WAF processes and safety regulations. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in using WAF management software and databases. Desired Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with naval ship repair standards and protocols. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 06:00 - 14:30 (or as otherwise assigned by General Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed. Work Environment: This job operates in an office environment and shipyard work environment. Travel: This position does require ability to travel. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes. May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking. Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable) Completion of a satisfactory background check Passing a drug test and physical examination Eligibility to work in the US. Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
