Work Schedule/Days: Day / Monday - Friday Employment Type: Full time Location: Egleston Requisition #: 33343 JOB DESCRIPTION The Vice President, Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center provides direct operational and financial leadership and accountability for the daily execution of inpatient and outpatient Hematology and Oncology clinical activities that ensure the highest level of clinical care service for patients and their families.This leader reports to the Chief Nursing and Hospital Operations Officer, and they lead a team of 360 clinical professionals. POSITION DUTIES* Partner with the Physician Chief to develop and implement integrated 5-year rolling strategy and plans for Center. Drive national recognition for the Center.Ensure strategic plans are put into place to drive meeting current market needs as well as new market needs as aligned with the strategic plan. Expand external relationships with referring physicians and patients/families. Oversee the administrative, professional, clinical, financial, research, and educational activities of the Center. Develop monthly, quarterly and annual reporting systems demonstrating Center performance and regularly evaluate program components and measure successes that can be effectively communicated to leadership, the board, donors and other constituents. Assess tradeoffs for new requests within the Center budgets inclusive of current performance against goals. Ensure that research plan is within financial guardrails. Monitor ‘protected time’ of physicians to maximize productivity and balance needs. Direct the overall clinical management of the Center by developing, implementing and maintaining clinical programs identified in strategic and business plans, integrating and coordinating care delivery throughout the Center, and assessing the feasibility of new programs, products, and services. Manage all relationships across the Center, including community, physicians, patients/families, and system partners. Serve as a key contact point for operational issues related to the Center. Attract, coach, develop, retain, and engage talent within the Center. Hold people accountable for their commitments, providing clarity and outlining in advance consequences of not meeting expectations. Drive patient experience improvement by actively participating in and encouraging team engagement with patient experience improvement initiatives. Establish and maintain high standards of professional practice to drive superior quality and a culture of safety. Identify and review key quality outcomes metrics in partnership with Physician Chief .Partner with Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer to identify key quality and outcome metrics. Maintain accountability for financial performance and demonstrate stewardship of resources including fiscal management of the Center. Develop the Case for Support to achieve fundraising targets. Expand local revenue-generating and fundraising activities to fully support existing programs and enable regional and national growth. EXPERIENCE* Five (5) or more years as a senior leader of clinical operations with a work experience of increased strategic responsibility in a complex healthcare organization. Experience developing a strategic clinical care plan, and the expertise to implement the plan within the Center. Significant experience administering a world-class clinical research function. This includes managing grant submissions, grant management, and clinical trials administration. Experience building and maintaining partnerships between clinical and non-clinical stakeholders. Expertise to align Center strategy and performance with system strategy and targets. Must have outstanding business and financial acumen. Demonstrated expertise to provide outstanding care while adhering to established financial parameters. Outstanding analytical expertise is required. Able to quickly, yet thoroughly, determine needs, cost/benefits, risks, and mitigations when presented with an issue or system generated solution. E xceptional verbal and written communications, strong business acumen, people skills and strong collaborative nature. A team member and consensus builder. Expert level presentation skills. Able to translate data into a story that engages and clarifies challenges, potential solutions, and results for stakeholders. History of building and fostering trusting, sustainable relationships, both internally and externally. Able to collaborate and partner with other subject matter experts and departmental leaders. Active listener. Seek to understand the point of view and needs of stakeholders and executives. Strong negotiation skills. Able to develop win/win solutions for Children’s and external partners. Demonstrated expertise to be influential. Expertise to balance emotional intelligence and business insights when communicating with stakeholders. Possess the depth of experience to know when to persuade vs. negotiate. High-level of service orientation—responsive to the needs of key stakeholders. Able to function in dynamic environment subject to impromptu changes in schedules, priorities, and project scope . Strong work experience of developing and engaging a team. Demonstrated expertise to build trust, mentor, conduct regular check-ins, use situational leadership, etc. Approachable and enthusiastic leader who is accessible and visible to the team on a regular basis. Self-motivated and directed individual who pays attention to the details and doesn’t cut corners. Expertise to multi-task and prioritize activities in a fast paced setting. D emonstrated expertise to initiate activities and operate independently, yet collaborative and resourceful. Proven good judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential info. An individual of the highest integrity with high levels of energy, maturity, and humbleness. Proficient in Microsoft excel, Ms word, and PowerPoint. EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business, Health Administration, Finance, Industrial Engineering or related health care field from an accredited college or university is required. CERTIFICATION SUMMARY No professional certifications required. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS* Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Business Administration is strongly preferred.
