POSITION OVERVIEW (Upper School Manager): The first priority of the counselor is to ensure that students perform their best academically. That begins by ensuring students show up to school. You are at the frontlines of school counseling, creating an attendance-going culture, and celebrating students' successes. Lower School Manager are tasked with helping adolescents navigate the unique educational, social and behavioral obstacles related to attending high school. The Upper School Manager's focus is on the Juniors and Seniors and they will provide assistance to students in navigating career options, college success planning, and college preparedness as well as promotion, retention, ACT preparation, and attendance. BENEFITS AND PERKS (School Lead): Medical Dental Vision 50K Life Insurance Short-Term Disability (Employer paid) Long-Term Disability (Employer paid) Accident Insurance (Employer paid) Voluntary LifeLock Identity Theft Protection Additional Voluntary Benefits (Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness) Professional Development Paid Time-off RESPONSIBILITIES (School Lead): Direct Student Services: school counseling core curriculum and oversee advisory programming instruction - direct instruction, team teaching, developing learning activities focused on ISBE's college and career readiness indicators group activities - planned activities outside the classroom promoting academic, career or social/emotional development individual student planning appraisal - assist students in evaluating interests, abilities, skills and achievement advisement - assist students in goal setting based on academic, career and social/emotional data scheduling - schedule each student on your caseload to ensure they achieve graduation requirements by the end of the 12th grade year responsive services counseling - in individual or small group settings school counselors provide planned, short-term and goal-focused counseling. crisis response - collaborate with school social workers and Deans to support and assistance to students and families as they navigate crisis and emergency situations college support Cultivate mutually beneficial working relationships with college admissions professionals and local area college counseling colleagues. Facilitate visits between students and college representatives on campus. Arrange and direct visits to relevant colleges and college fairs. Indirect student services including: consultation - share strategies supporting student achievement with parents, teachers, other educators and community organizations collaboration - work with other educators, parents and the community to support student achievement referrals - support for students and families to school or community resources for additional assistance and information. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; Assist the administration in implementing District goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the District; QUALIFICATIONS (School Lead): Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Valid teaching or administrative certification/license. Proven experience in educational leadership, including at least 2 years of experience in a counseling, college and career readiness, or secondary level teaching/leadership position Strong understanding of educational standards, curriculum development, and assessment practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to effectively manage and motivate staff members. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Proficiency in educational technology and data-driven decision-making. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and willingness to take on new challenges. Passion for education and a dedication to promoting student success and achievement.
