Tree Service Climber

Description:
The Climber at ArborWorks is responsible for performing skilled tree care tasks, including tree pruning, trimming, and removal by climbing trees and working at elevated heights. This role requires expertise in tree climbing techniques, the use of rigging equipment, and an in-depth understanding of tree health and structure. The Climber works closely with the ground crew and other tree care professionals to safely and efficiently complete tree care projects. This is a year-round position. Responsibilities: Tree Climbing & Pruning: • Climb trees using ropes, harnesses, and other rigging equipment to access areas for pruning, trimming, and removal.• Perform tree pruning and trimming to enhance tree health and safety or to accommodate client requests, ensuring proper cuts are made to avoid damaging the tree.• Safely remove hazardous trees or branches, working in collaboration with the ground crew to ensure safe lowering and disposal of debris. Rigging & Equipment Operation: • Set up and operate rigging systems to safely lower large tree limbs and branches during pruning or removal.• Use chainsaws, handsaws, pole saws, and other tools effectively while climbing to complete necessary tree care tasks.• Maintain and inspect climbing and rigging equipment regularly to ensure safe operation. Job Site Safety & Coordination: • Work with the ground crew and other tree care professionals to coordinate safe and efficient operations on job sites.• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting pre-climb safety checks.• Assess tree structures and potential hazards before climbing to identify the safest approach for pruning or removal. Tree Health & Diagnosis: • Assess tree health during climbs, identifying signs of disease, decay, or damage that may impact the tree’s stability or health.• Make recommendations to clients or the ArborWorks team regarding the best course of action for tree care, preservation, or removal. Qualifications: • Must have strong communication skills and work ethic• Comfortable working at heights and all weather conditions• Ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs)• A high school diploma or GED is preferred• SRT/SRS Climbing Method Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 yearly About Company: Arbor Works is a premier tree care company located in Acton, Massachusetts, dedicated to delivering exceptional services focused on safety and client experience.
