About the Role: Technology Instructor and Developer Grace Church School takes pride in its human-centered approach to technology and technology instruction. The Technology Instructor and Developer will report to the Technology Department Chair and work closely with divisional leadership and high school faculty. The TID will provide multiple levels of technology instruction, while helping develop a broader, more advanced technology curriculum. Through the entry level Digital Tools and Citizenship (DTC) course, we will continue to equip all incoming students with the foundational technology tools and online skills identified for a successful academic experience at Grace Church School. The technology program emphasizes a design-based, problem-solving approach that presents technology skills and digital awareness as life skills. All 9th graders and 10 graders are required to take one semester of technology in each of their programs. Older grades have the option of taking advanced programming languages or technology as a major. In addition to teaching, the TID will also help develop and teach a technology sequence providing options for higher level and wider-ranging technology exploration. Responsibilities: Teach (possibly co-teach) Technology Major. The current course includes coding, data structures and other CS basics via Harvard’s online CS50, the history of the digital evolution, the development of algorithmic thinking through the use of puzzles, and ongoing investigation of current technology topics. Teach several sections of the ninth grade introductory technology course in the Fall semester, joining a team of tech instructors. The current course includes Mac OS and G-Suite tools and management, digital citizenship and choice, intro to python coding, iMovie, A.I. management skills and tech topics research. Teach several sections of the tenth grade, intermediate technology course in the Spring semester, joining a team of tech instructors. The current course includes an introduction to GarageBand, project design, Google Sites, A.I. management and robotics. Work closely with Technology Curriculum Coordinator to redesign our scope and sequence to include A wider range of technology electives starting in 10th grade and More advanced technology options Requirements Faculty must be academically prepared and highly effective at teaching and designing curriculum for a rotating block course schedule of three 80-minute periods per six-day cycle, along with a weekly tutorial period for additional individual or small group instruction. Faculty must be adept at using technology for teaching and learning, and supporting students. In addition to teaching their core academic classes, all faculty teach in our Lab Studies program, focused on inquiry-driven, project-based, experiential real-world learning. Faculty also serve as advisors in small advisory groups that meet daily. Advisors are responsible for supporting, advising, and mentoring students through their four years of high school, helping them to understand themselves as learners and to lead their fall and spring family conferences, and to contribute to student life and the school community. We work in a team-based structure with a high level of communication and collegiality. Active participation in a faculty culture of continuous learning, professional development, and intellectual growth is expected and supported. Opportunities are available to coach, direct, and lead activities in the extracurricular program, in which all students are encouraged to participate. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree or beyond is preferred. Compensation This is a full-time faculty position with an expected base salary of $68,000–$155,040 commensurate with education and experience on the faculty salary scale.
