This role focuses on state and local tax matters, encompassing a variety of tax areas such as sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, property taxes, and income taxes. This is a unique opportunity for a tax professional with a strong background in SALT law to collaborate within a dynamic legal environment. Additional experience in Mergers Acquisitions (MA) or nonprofit taxation is beneficial but not essential.DutiesProvide legal counsel and guidance in state and local tax matters, including sales, property, income, and gross receipts taxes.Support clients through tax planning and compliance within relevant jurisdictions.Collaborate with team members to analyze tax implications related to client business transactions.Engage in research to address complex tax issues and to provide clients with insightful recommendations.Draft and review tax-related legal documents and provide strategic legal advice to clients.Contribute to the Tax Practice through collaboration and knowledge-sharing with colleagues.Requirements2+ years of experience in tax law, specifically with state and local taxation.Familiarity with sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, property taxes, and income taxes.Experience in MA tax or nonprofit tax is a plus.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admittance to the Ohio State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocal admission).CertificationsAn active member of the Ohio Bar Association or eligible to practice law in Ohio.SkillsStrong analytical skills with a focus on providing precise, strategic tax solutions.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Effective collaborator with a commitment to teamwork in a professional setting.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Job LocationCincinnati, OH This Vault-ranked firm has a client-first mindset, where attorneys are rewarded based on their listening and understanding their clients' goals, thinking creatively and aggressively to advance those goals, and obtaining the clients' ultimate success.
