The Opportunity We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented SysAdmin with a passion for efficiency, problem-solving, and collaboration to join our team. In this role at Urban Insight, you will manage all aspects of our systems, software, and developer operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our website development systems, tools, and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience as both a developer and an IT generalist, and be able to provide guidance and technical support across the company. This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure and will collaborate closely with the Development Department and the entire Urban Insight team. Key Responsibilities Manage the security and reliability of our websites, systems, and internal infrastructure. Collaborate with developers to ensure consistent and efficient work. Make sure they follow best practices, use the right tools, and maintain a strong working relationship. Develop and maintain technical documentation, technical policies & procedures; and foster a culture of strong documentation. Manage hardware, software, and account access; and provide technical support and troubleshooting across our fully remote, distributed team. Manage and perform hosting setup and configuration, security upgrades, and site launches for client projects. Qualifications 5+ years proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role. Strong knowledge of system and network administration, including proficiency in Linux/Unix and MacOS environments (Windows experience is a plus) Experience with cloud platform setup and maintenance (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Hands-on experience with open-source CMS frameworks such as Drupal & WordPress. Familiarity with web development technologies and tools (e.g. Lando, Docker, Composer) Solid understanding of security best practices and the ability to implement and monitor them effectively. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment. Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Certified SysOps, LPIC-1, CISSP) are a plus. Success Metrics In the first 90 days: Ensure that all critical security patches and updates are applied within 24-48 hours. Prioritize system uptime. Resolve website outages or initiate communication with the hosting provider within 30 mins of the initial report. Follow up on all internal service desk requests within 1 hour, during business hours. Complete review and analysis of all key systems, software, and developer operations. Maintain an average billable rate of 25%. In the first year: Successfully manage all aspects of our systems, software, and developer operations, resulting in satisfied clients, satisfied internal team members, and measurably efficient developers. Proactively complete all necessary security checks on a weekly and monthly basis. Enhance Urban Insight’s SysAdmin department through improved processes, documentation, and tools. Our salary package includes: Total annual compensation 90-110K DOE Paid time off (15 days on an a ccrual basis - increasing to 20 after four years) Holiday time off (~10 days per year).
