The Staff Accountant II is responsible for the support of multiple Stock Yard markets in a respective area. Provide support to the area and region finance leadership in the completion of the period end close through journal entry, balance sheet reconciliations and analysis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and consideration of proper SOX controls. As well provide support to the finance and operation team leaders in the area in the preparation of the mid-month forecast.This position has been segmented as Hybrid meaning there is a combination of three onsite days per week and the rest remote. Responsibilities:Prepares month-end journal entries and assigned balance sheet reconciliationsCompletes general ledger and subledger account analysisPrepares and assist with review of financial statements as part of close processProvide reports as required for customers and vendor analysisCompile and provide audit support as requested by internal and external auditors.Develop end-to-end process and business knowledge of assigned areaSkilled at demonstrating the values and behaviors of the Company Cultural BeliefsAssist with research of inventory costing issues and analysis to ensure proper cost accountingProvides annual budget and monthly forecast support and analysis for accurate projection of resultsResponds timely to requests for information/reports from auditors, regional or corporate associatesCompletes special projects and analysis as requested by SY and Corporate finance leadershipEducation/Training: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.--- Related Experience: Must possess a minimum of two years in general accounting; cost accounting experience preferred.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continues improvement mindset.Attention to detail and organizational skills; multi-task oriented; and ability to meet deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.Experience with PeopleSoft accounting preferred.Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to work with and demonstrate discretion with confidential information.#LI-MS1***EOE Race/Color/Religion/Sex/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/National Origin/Protected Veteran/Disability Status***
