Job Functions: Health - Speech Language Pathology - Join a rehab team that provides innovative, evidence-based care, delivered with compassion, to enhance the recovery of the people we serve. Our PRN pool cover weekday and weekend shifts, enjoying the flexibility of self-scheduling and varied start times. Therapists cover all units of the hospital ranging from our certified stroke unit to the ICU to our Joint * Spine Center. We are looking for experienced clinicians, preferably with acute care background. Primarily Weekday Availability Needed with 1 Weekend Day Per Quarter Position Objective: Evaluates patients in the acute care medical setting for Speech-Language Pathology services and provides therapeutic intervention according to professional and departmental standards. Assesses the appropriateness and effectiveness of services provided based on the needs of the individual patient and completes documentation according to the standards set by the Inpatient Rehabilitation Department. Essential Position assignments: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the required functions. Performs Speech-Language Pathology evaluations and treatments involving varied diagnoses and units using a variety of appropriate treatment techniques and completes documentation according to established departmental policies and procedures. Meets departmental productivity standards and completes productivity logs in a timely manner. Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives engaging in excellent customer service practices including but not limited to following ICARE principles. Consults with and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of Speech-Language Pathology scope of practice to identify patients who would benefit from Speech-Language Pathology services. Stays up to date on hospital policies, departmental qualifications and process improvement initiatives by reading all correspondence (meeting minutes, weekly updates, etc) and participating in huddles. Promptly responds to communication and requests. Provides technical supervision, direction, and support to students and volunteers. Educational/Background Qualifications: The min level of education and background for this position includes: Master*s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Previous background required; acute care background wanted. Required License/Certifications: Current license in Speech-Language Pathology by the Maryland Board of Audiology/Hearing Aid Dispensers/Speech and Language Pathologists. Current Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification. Work conditions, Equipment, Physical qualifications: There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens. Employee may observe, transport, or administer medication in keeping with hospital and departmental policy and procedure. Physical qualifications - Light lifting Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
