The University of Miami/UHealth UMHC/SCCC Department of Social Work at Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full time Licensed Clinical Social Worker. This opportunity will have a hybrid schedule. The Social Worker provides psychosocial assessments, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning to patients and families to assist them in coping with their hospitalization, illness, diagnosis or life situations. The incumbent strives to meet the continuing needs of patients post hospitalization. * Interviews clients and their families and coordinates programs and activities to meet their social and emotional needs. * Provides crisis intervention and assists families in understanding the implications and complexities of the medical situation and its impact on lifestyle . * Provide s psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental problems. * Formulates and implements plans utilizing appropriate social work interventions. * Collaborate s with the health care team and involve s the patients and families in the development and implementation of plans. * Assists with the screening, identification , and management of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and rape . * Make s referrals and serves as a resou rce for the health care team and serves as a patient advocate. * Maintains a workin g knowledge of relevant medical and legal issues and preserves records and statistics. * Attend s and participate s in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings. * Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions: * Evaluates program effectiveness; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action; coordinates program activities with other program, department or staff activities, ensuring optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, specifications and funding limitations. * Trains, develops, and empowers staff to effectively perform their jobs; confers with and advises staff, students and others, providing technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretations. * Acts as a main point of contact for project funders, advisors, speakers and participants; recruits program participants, members and volunteers. * Develops cooperative/therapeutic relationships with patients and families representing a variety of populations, projecting a positive and cooperative image; creates a calm, professional atmosphere that promotes productivity and a positive image. * Develops program communications and promotional literature for distribution including newsletters, brochures and flyers, coordinating the process from development through printing and distribution. * Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies. * Maintains patient confidentiality as well as the confidentiality of hospital business information. * Accountable for maintenance of established supply levels, including but not limited to unit and supply rooms.
