Senior Scientist Description. Seeking a Senior Scientist to support the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense (JPEO- CBRND) JPEO-CBRND Headquarters (HQ). The JPEO-CBRND manages our nation's investments in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear defense equipment, and medical countermeasures. battlespace worldwide. This position requires a Secret clearance. Clearance Level: SecretLocation: Edgewood, MD - On Site Job Duties: Provide Senior Scientist support services to the Joint Program Executive Office CBRND HQs to support both the mission of the CTO (75-80% of the time) and the Wearables Pilot Program (20-25% of the time). Research the latest scientific technology innovations and tools and evaluate how these can be transitioned into the JPEO-CBRND's portfolio of technology demonstrations and acquisition programs. Remain informed of the latest scientific innovations associated with CBRND wearable sensor and information technology developments that can be used to detect CBRNE hazards and risks to the warfighter. Collaborate with stakeholders and potential users to analyze the maturity, availability, and utility of sensor, analytical, and communications technologies to identify how they might be integrated to address operational needs. Provide scientific knowledge of new/novel technologies that may pose a CBRN threat in the near and far term. Participate in working groups, meetings, and support development and review of necessary documents to support Senior Leader decisions impacting the portfolio. Assist in the assessment of technology maturity and facilitate the execution of technology transition plans and agreements. Provide advisement with requirements development and the establishment of new programs within the DoD acquisition structure. Identify and assess risks of new technologies and ongoing projects. Translate scientific and technical principles into "laymen's" terms for a nonscientific audience. Lead and assist in the review and analyses of white papers, proposals, and technical reports submitted. Interface with the stakeholder community and senior leaders to ensure effective coordination. Travel, as needed, to support the program. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Possess expert knowledge in multiple engineering and scientific fields and have previous experience applying this knowledge to CBRN Defense with minimal supervision. Possess the ability to work on a multi-disciplined team in a DoD acquisition environment. Possess the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and rapidly redirect efforts based on changing requirements. Possess high level analytical skills and strong writing and oral communication skills. Education Doctorate degree in Engineering, Science, Business Management, Systems Management, or a related discipline, as well as twelve (15) years of general experience and ten (10) years of relevant experience OR the contractor shall possess a Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Business Management, Systems Management, or a related discipline, as well as twenty (20) years of general experience and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience.
