Senior Manager JOB SUMMARY A Senior Manager drives high-impact projects, providing strategic guidance and innovative solutions to enhance business performance and achieve client goals. They oversee multiple project teams, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive analyses and actionable recommendations while maintaining strong client relationships. The role involves collaborating with senior executives to identify opportunities for improvement and delivering measurable results. Senior Managers serve as trusted advisors for clients and subject matter experts in their area(s) of service experience. Additionally, the Senior Manager mentors and develops multiple junior consultants and new managers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous professional growth within the firm. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Leading larger programs, or a portfolio of projects, within a client account Leading teams to accomplish project goals in a way that recognizes strengths, sets clear expectations and drives accountability for performance Proactively managing project resources, staff and levels; makes adjustments to meet contract thresholds or financial targets Outlining a clear story, with outcome statements and compelling information to guide decisions Presenting key client deliverables and solutions that align to client organizational challenges, gaps or areas for enhancement Leading solution design for complex programs using a multi-disciplinary approach and incorporating industry best practices Monitoring project and program performance indicators to yield results, adjusting strategies as needed Maintaining partner and subcontractor relationships as part of an integrated team Soliciting and providing actionable and timely feedback to peers, advisees, direct reports, and teams Building effective client relationships to influence change, discuss options and present recommendations to accomplish project objectives Guiding client engagements to solve challenges, design solutions and achieve results Developing account strategies, leading proposal efforts and shaping opportunities to develop business REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to effectively manage teams of 5+ individuals on time and within budget (or 2-3 projects concurrently) while upholding quality standards Guides shaping of scope and complex solution development Leads team to prioritize work and meet deadlines to ensure project financials and outputs are aligned to client expectations Develops teammates and junior staff through real-time coaching and written feedback Guides the direction of the team in solution development to ensure the right problem is being solved and that the solution is realistic and actionable Demonstrates a depth of knowledge in a service offering, client, industry, or functional area-bridging our core solutions to areas of specialty and expertise. Develops performance standards and ensures team is operating at level of quality and efficiency needed Builds morale across team and maintains high engagement and performance Adjusts to evolving project needs while maintaining a calm, professional approach grounded in flexibility and humility Ability to write proposal responses, lead proposal response teams, and support larger business development efforts EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS Required Experience and Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree and 8-12 years of management consulting experience in one of the following functional areas: Organizational Development, Change Management, Employee and Customer Experience, Strategic Communications, Organizational Psychology, Process Improvement, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA), Learning & Development, Human Capital, and/or Project Management/Analytics In lieu of degree, 12-15 years of transferrable work experience will be considered Experience supporting the win of follow-on work by excellent delivery, client relationship building , and strong team performance Proven track record of successfully leading project teams within a management consulting role Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance Preferred Experience and Credentials: Experience leading large, matrixed project teams within the federal sector or consulting Industry Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other related field of study Industry certification in Prosci, Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), or other related certification BENEFITS At Totem, we know that great people make a great organization. TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS Occasional travel may be required for client workshops or onsite presence, but this is not a traditional on-the-road consulting role. Totem defines local travel as travel that is within 50 miles from the client location. On an as needed basis and as directed by the client, staff may be required to travel locally to the client location. Local travel will not be reimbursed by Totem. Travel performed for personal convenience or daily travel to and from work at the designated work site will not be reimbursed.
