NEEDED: Security Guard LOCATION: COLUMBUS CIVIC CENTER 400 4th St, Columbus, GA 31901 HOURS: As Needed/ Event Driven, 7 days a week, Monday-Sunday, 12:00 AM – 12:00 PM DRESS CODE: Black or brown shoes and black pants REQUIREMENTS: Dependable Transportation Dependable and punctual attendance Major Duties and Responsibilities: Patrols assigned areas; reports problems. Inspects and secures offices and buildings at end of day; opens doors at the beginning of the event day and secures all building and stairwell doors. Maintains crowd control for special events. Assists visitors with general information and directions. Operates metal detectors as required. Assists employees with automobile problems; may assist with loading and unloading equipment, inventory, or other packages. Raises and lowers flags. Provides reports as needed. May be assigned as security to performers or promoters for shows. Monitors parking lot and performers buses to ensure area is secure. Maintains security and crowd control in front of the stage. Carries out a continuous effort to improve operations, work processes; and works cooperatively and jointly to provide continuous improvement and customer-driven service. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of safety and security procedures for assigned areas and of state and local laws, rules, and regulations relating to areas of assignment. Skills in controlling crowds of people; observation of people and situations. Skills in the operation of a two-way radio communication system. Skills in oral and written communication. Educational and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or GED; one year of related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Physical Requirements: Work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. Occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
