For details on the job fair and to RSVP, please click here: https://forms.office.com/g/6G6F81Nix5 Job Summary This position assists the Ecology team in the maintenance, observation, and restoration of the District's aquatic ecosystems while receiving on the job training to complement their education. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform laboratory aquaculture duties including propagation of freshwater mussels, fish care, risk/hazard assessment, and general laboratory cleaning and maintenance. Conduct sampling of fish stream assemblages, macroinvertebrates, and freshwater mussels to assess the health and biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems. Collect and analyze water quality data using standard monitoring equipment. Operate boats, motors, pickup trucks, and electro-shock equipment. Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the District's safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents. Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrate a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers. Perform other duties as required. Requirements: 18 years of age or older at time of hire. Valid Driver's License in good standing. Pursuing or recently completed a degree in biology, fish management or aquaculture, ecology, or a related field. Basic knowledge of field sampling techniques. Knowledge of aquatic ecosystems and the ability to identify common invasive species. Proficiency in the safe operation of boats within one month of employment. Must have the ability to swim. Comfortable working in wilderness and in remote areas. Able to work independently or in teams. Schedule: Position starts as early as 4/7/25 or secondary start of 6/2/25 with an estimated end date of October or November. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Pay: $16/hour. Work Environment: Requires working indoors and outdoors. There is exposure to all weather conditions, insects and other wildlife, high vegetation, wading through water, and uneven terrain. Other Information: Position reports to the Urban Stream Research Center.
