MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Activities include but are not limited to the following: Act as a role model demonstrating positive communication and good social skills and emotional intelligence. Ensure Individual Program Plan (IPP) is implemented and documented. Ensure the accomplishment of individual's goals and behavior plans. Oversee the safety and well-being of the individuals. Maintain the timely completion of all records and reports, as directed by the Program Manager. Supervise the daily shift operations of the residence. Problem-solve daily shift issues and/or conflicts as part of the site leadership team. Ensure good communication of daily work info and expectations. Maintain site staffing schedules and coverage, under the direction of the Program Manager. Provide coaching and counseling of Resident Counselors to enhance the individual and team performance, as directed by the Program Manager. Complete 90-day and annual DSP evaluations of Residence Counselors for approval by Program Manager. Assist with interviews for staff vacancies as requested by Program Manager. Arrange and assist with on-site orientation and training activities of all site staff members. Perform duties of the Residence Counselor, as needed, including personal care. Maintain accurate purchasing records, petty cash and personal funds. Establish and effective contact with all vendors. Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements and HIPAA regulations. Monitor operation and condition of the residential facility and supplies, ensuring building security. Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees. Develop and maintain an great communication network with the individuals, program staff, families, community agencies, and other Agency departments. Establish a work atmosphere that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency's culture, values and mission. Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ REQUIREMENTS/ BACKGROUND Associates degree in Human Services or related position, BS/BA preferred. Min of 1 (1) year of background. Driving is required. Must have a valid, unrestricted New York State driver's license. This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities). REQUIRED ABILITIES Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Regularly attend scheduled shifts and meetings, being punctual. When reporting for duty, meetings, or trainings be in a condition suitable for assuming responsibilities of the position. Exercise tact, discretion and judgment in working with a variety of people. Legible handwriting. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT/ TRAINING Knowledge of basic computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Browser, Access, Ms word and Ms excel) Expertise to complete and maintain certification in 1st-Aid/CPR Expertise to complete and maintain certification in physical restraint program (SCIP-R) Expertise to complete and maintain AMAP certification. WORK CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT / HAZARDS Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions while transporting individuals from buildings to vehicles, or vice versa. Potential exposure to profanity, violent and/or offensive behaviors from clients. May be exposed to verbal and physical aggression of individuals OSHA Exposure Category I: Job related tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or the potential for skin or mucous membrane contact from spills or splashes of these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Upstate Cerebral Palsy sites. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS Expertise to lift and/or assist individuals Expertise to walk, bend, squat. Expertise to turn in the knees, back wrists and shoulders. Expertise to twist upper body. Expertise to grasp and reach with both hands, including simple, firm and fine manipulation. Expertise to push and pull Climb and descend stairs. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to move and react quickly. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. Must be able to travel locally and regionally. Must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language. Must possess the expertise to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted. Must be able to manage and cope in sometimes stressful situations.
