The Researcher or Research Manager is responsible for helping lead Age of Learning's robust and growing efficacy research work. In supervising our efforts to understand how ABCmouse and other Age of Learning products help children learn—and to inform curriculum and product development to further improve learning outcomes—this role is central to fulfilling the company's mission to educate the world. This role helps develop and manage the company's efficacy research strategy, including design and supervision of innovative large- and smaller-scale studies, both quantitative and qualitative, in diverse environments—on-line and in person; in schools, Head Start classrooms, and homes; in the U.S. and globally, including in China. The role works with internal and independent external researchers, with responsibility for identifying research partners and managing timelines and budgets for research projects. Collaborate with a cross-functional team, including business intelligence/data analytics experts, product usability researchers, user background designers, curriculum developers, and others to evaluate and improve Age of Learning's product offerings. Candidates who are qualified will have ability in designing and conducting education research, and the proven work experience to successfully implement innovative studies to address strategic research objectives. This position calls for a strong researcher with the abilities to design studies and analyze results, work collaboratively with a diverse array of stakeholders, and communicate research findings effectively. Responsibilities: Help develop and manage company's educational efficacy research Support all phases of research, including setting objectives, determining study design, identifying research partners, and producing/editing written reports Partner with internal stakeholders as well as external researchers, consultants, and school and school district personnel Publish articles based on research and present at conferences Desired Skills and Background: Ph.D. in educational, cognitive, or developmental psychology, or a related position Ability in early childhood and/or elementary education research and assessment Background in research, evaluation, or related role in the private sector, preferably at an education technology company, preferred Strong oral and written correspondence skills, including the ability to effectively summarize and present research findings in written material for a lay audience Strong skills in designing all facets of a research project to answer complex questions that inform educational practice Excellent analytic skills, including ability in statistical analysis and background using SPSS and/or SAS Background successfully designing and running survey research projects Proven background to work quickly and independently, and to manage multiple simultaneous projects Record of publishing results of education research and making effective presentations to professional audiences
