Description:
Research & Development Engineer for Rochester Hills, MI to develop & engineer fluid delivery parts and systems used for robotic waterborne paint systems; perform component design, material selection, design flow control & atomization of waterborne paint; create technical procedures & content for product documentation; troubleshoot customer or manufacturing issues; execute validation & performance tests; create & read mechanical engineering drawings; collaborate with engineering teams on product development. Requires Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or closely-related field with coursework in Fluid Mechanics & Machine Design. Must have experience applying fluid mechanics and/or mechanical design to develop designs of fluid control equipment; creating & reading mechanical engineering drawings using Solidworks; performing mechanical design using Strength of Materials theory; building & troubleshooting prototypes and test equipment; inspecting manufactured parts & part features using metrological tools, including optical comparators, calipers, height gauges and/or gauge pins; conducting failure analysis of mechanical assemblies & parts scenarios; and using simulation tools, including finite element analysis, to optimize existing designs & create new designs of mechanical parts. Background must include the above demonstrated skills obtained through coursework or employment. Up to 5% int'l travel req'd.
