General Summary of Position Unit Highlights MedStar Georgetown's Perinatal Department consists of a Labor & Delivery/Inpatient Antepartum Suite along with a Mother-Baby Couplet Postpartum Unit. Perinatal nurses assess the mother and neonate in a family-centered, holistic environment that supports the new family during this time of changing needs. MedStar Georgetown is a designated Baby Friendly Hospital and regional referral center for high-risk mothers and infants, and enjoys a supportive and cooperative relationship with our outstanding Level IV NICU to provide excellent continuity of care for these families. Perinatal nurses collaborate with parenting services, antepartum/postpartum patient educators and lactation specialists to provide comprehensive patient and family education. Our diverse patient population includes both medically complex and uncomplicated patients. Perinatal nurses enjoy participating in collaborative governance at the unit and hospital level and are encouraged to attend a wide variety of educational opportunities, including AWHONN regional and national conferences. This is the third time in recent years that MedStar Georgetown has been recognized with this distinction. - Key Responsibilities As a Clinical Nurse you will deliver proficient nursing care to patients and families whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. You will identify current and potential complex problems of specific patient populations and critically analyzes trends and changes in patient status and plans appropriate interventions directly or indirectly through other nurses. Prior Clinical Nursing Experience preferred. Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required. This position has a hiring range of $38.00 - $63.30
