AOA programming includes aquatics, fitness, outdoor day trips, lunch trips, drop-in activities, clubs, arts & crafts, dance lessons and more! The City & County of Denver Parks & Recreation Department is seeking Active Older Adults Recreation Instructors (On-Call - averaging 10 hours a week)* to call bingo, drive the bus for trips, and assist the coordinator with other AOA programs.Job Responsibilities:Work with full-time staff to plan and implement programsMaintain a safe, fun and trusting program environment for all participantsWork directly with recreation center staff to aid in facilitation of programsExecutes instructional plans using prescribed and accepted teaching methods for group and individual instructionEvaluates and communicates student/participant progress to all appropriate staffReviews completed program participant evaluation tools, using findings to increase program and instructional effectivenessAssists in the organization and administration of special eventsBy position, performs various tasks to provide program administrative supportDrive bus to transport participants on trips (optional)Performs other related duties as assigned or requestedThis is an on-call position which will work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits. About YouIdeal Candidate SummaryWe are looking for passionate and caring individuals who are looking to make connections and foster the well-being of our active older adults community. Additionally, our ideal candidate will possess:Experience in facilitating and/or assisting in the day-to-day operations of an organized recreation programExperience in working directly with older adults (ages 50+) in recreation programming or a related fieldWillingness to obtain authorization in order to drive an Active Older Adults participant transport vehicle (Mini-Bus)We realize that your time is valuable, so please do not apply unless you meet the following required minimum qualifications:Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC CertificateExperience: One (1) year of experience in assisting in the operation and instruction of organized recreation activitiesEducation and Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirementsLicensures/Certification(s): Requires certification in CPR and First Aid within 6 months of date of hire. Requires a valid driver's license at the time of application. (Employees may be eligible to drive department/city vehicles for transportation and subject to motor vehicle record check and required to pass a city sponsored driver safety training course.)
