The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in real estate law, mortgage servicing, and title issues. This role provides significant opportunities for growth, including work in bankruptcy, litigation, and transactional mortgage default cases.DutiesAnalyze legal matters and develop strategies in collaboration with the Managing AttorneyManage caseloads effectively, ensuring compliance with firm, client, and court requirementsCoordinate with staff to maintain timely updates in client systems and the firm’s case management softwarePrepare and review legal documents for compliance with applicable laws and client directivesConduct legal research on statutes, case law, and relevant codesDraft and file foreclosure-related motions, complaints, and responsive pleadingsHandle real estate title litigation and substantive real estate mattersPrepare bankruptcy motions and filings, and perform quality control reviews on legal documentsAttend pre-trial hearings, argue motions, participate in mediations, and attend trials in state and federal courts, as applicable to experienceRequirementsStrong organizational and detail-oriented skills with effective oral and written communication abilitiesAbility to manage a portfolio of work in a fast-paced environment with accountabilityLicensed to practice law in the state of VirginiaBackground in real estate, mortgage servicing, or general litigation is preferred; recently admitted attorneys with relevant experience are encouraged to applyEducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolCertificationsActive membership in the Virginia State Bar (required)SkillsProficiency in legal research and document preparationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamFamiliarity with case management software and legal databases (e.g., Westlaw) is a plusBenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance with prescription coverageCompany-paid life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance401(k) retirement planPaid time off, including 10 paid holidays and a diversity/personal dayFlex time and a casual work environmentReimbursement for bar renewals and attorney feesAccess to an online CLE platform and Westlaw for research and continuing educationWellness programs, employee discounts, and access to counseling servicesFree parking on-site This law firm offers legal representation for banks, mortgage services, and financial institutions.
