Rantec is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test. Scope Provide quality assurance engineering leadership to product realization processes (requirements review/planning, design development, procurement, production, and verification/validation). Provide support and subject matter expertise in Quality Management Systems core processes (audit, corrective action, calibration, data analysis and improvement). Perform quality engineering functional role in FAI and Source Inspection support, material review disposition, communicate and ensure compliance to customer requirements from design to delivery. When called upon, represent Rantec in customer facing roles related to quality assurance and provide leadership on quality related issues. Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced QA Engineers into the QA engineer function. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and help assure its compliance to AS9100D. Provide leadership as needed in AS9100 compliance and improvement. Perform audits of specific areas, processes, and procedures including internal QMS audits. Contract / Purchase Order requirements review and ensuring subsequent compliance to requirements Write and update quality planning for customer required quality planning such as Supplier Data Requirements Listing (SDRL). Evaluate design outputs and evaluate and approve configuration changes. Provide technical and compliance support to design and production activities to achieve compliance to customer requirements. Be able to make decisions (referee) on product conformity issues. Interface with government and customer source inspectors and representatives. Train less experienced QA Engineers in source inspection. As needed, coordinate outside lab failure analysis toward effective results. Write failure analysis reports using collaborative input for cause statement from engineering and test. When required, perform First Article Inspection (FAI) and support customer Source Inspection. Participate in and respond to customer quality assessments and audits. Support project teams toward solutions. when product failures and defect trends are identified. Preventive and corrective action activities including containment, root cause analysis and corrective action. Complete assigned training. When called upon, train QA and other employees in subject areas; such as ESD and FOD control, QMS procedures, use of quality and problem-solving tools. As needed participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts. Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required. Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all Rantec and regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations. Perform related duties of QA department as assigned. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with a high degree of autonomy. This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services. These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons. Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of State’s Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency. Education and Experience BS degree in a technical field required, or additional years of experience. Minimum 7 years QA Engineer experience, preferably in an Aerospace electronics design and manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years’ experience in working in an organization certified to a Quality Management System standard, preferably AS9100. Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), FMEA, SPC is desirable. Experience with LEAN/5S and/or 6 Sigma is desirable. Knowledge of First Article Inspection in accordance with AS9102 is desirable. Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical inspection requirements, including current industry workmanship standards (J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610). Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment and problem solving. Able to utilize root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 why, 8D, Kepner-Tregoe, etc. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Multi-tasking ability. Assertive self-starter, that works with all functions of the organization and team on time. Excellent knowledge & ability with Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Ability to make sound decisions based on solid reasoning regarding acceptance/rejection of materials. Specific vision abilities required by this job close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus, with correction, if needed, to perform hand soldering and wiring of assemblies.
