This position requires a candidate who can provide expert legal counsel to public agencies, is capable of working independently, and is open to assisting with municipal law matters. The role offers a hybrid work setting, competitive compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package.LocationSacramento, CADutiesProvide legal advice and counsel to public agencies on labor and employment matters.Prepare for and represent clients in arbitration, PERB, and other administrative hearings.Review and draft contracts and other legal documents.Provide general legal counsel to local government clients.Assist with other municipal law matters, including public contracting, governance, and records act responses.RequirementsMinimum of 9 years of experience in labor and employment law.Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and communicate effectively.Ability to work independently while mentoring junior associates.Familiarity with CalPERS rules and benefits is highly preferred.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.CertificationsActive membership in the California State Bar.SkillsProficiency in legal research tools, including Westlaw.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Experience with public agency or municipal law is a plus.Benefits401(k) matchingEmployee assistance programFlexible spending accountProfessional development assistance The Sacramento office of this firm represents clients from every area of the state in matters involving water law, natural resources, municipal and public agency, public finance, education, construction, employment and labor, bankruptcy and creditors rights, and related litigation.
