Proposal Writer Position classification: Regular Role and Responsibilities Summary Provide proposal writing in support of CAE USA proposals. Collaborate closely with proposal managers, capture managers, business developers, line managers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to develop proposal documents. Most writing ignments are part of medium-sized to very large Department of Defense proposal efforts ($20M-$1B). Work may include acting as Volume Lead on large proposals as well as being responsible for all aspects of small proposals and Task Order proposals. Work includes development or istance in development of past performance citations, sections within management and technical volumes, process plans, executive summaries, RFI responses, and resumes. Critical attributes include exceptional teamwork, expertise to translate technical material into easy-to-read written materials, flexibility, organization, and a can-do attitude. Must be able to understand written technical materials and conduct interviews with technical staff in order to produce proposal documents. Must understand and follow standard proposal processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key functions. Review igned RFPs and work with the proposal manager to understand and adhere to proposal requirements relative to writing ignments. Proactively apply the company proposal planning process to include outlines, themes, action items, style guide, etc. during the writing process to ensure RFP compliance and compelling proposals. Write and manage development of new proposal material. Revise/rewrite existing proposal materials based on the requirements of each proposal. Perform this work through interviews with engineers and other subject matter experts, research, and review/data mining of existing or similar materials (proposals, and other documentation). Prepare past performance citations and past performance volume by analyzing previously submitted citations, program descriptions provided by other teammates, and resource materials. Interview personnel to develop citations as required. Review RFP evaluation criteria and create matrices to rank program relevancy as part of past performance program selection process. Coordinate writing ignments involving subcontractors, as required. Manage writing efforts of program staff when needed. Prepare resumes ranging from short vignettes to multiple-page complete resumes. Perform quality check of all igned proposal sections and volumes, to include checking for RFP compliance, basic proofreading, and adherence to other proposal standards to ensure accuracy and quality of work. Ensure materials are edited as part of the proposal process. For large efforts, help develop writers' packages, conduct writing kickoffs, and ist other writers. Perform other writing ignments in support of direct contracts, marketing communications, or other CAE USA documents. Establish and maintain files on our SharePoint site and Proposal Drive. Requirements and Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree or combination of education and equivalent work background. Proficiency with Microsoft office (particularly, Microsoft word, Outlook, and Microsoft excel), SharePoint, and Acrobat; and the expertise to learn and proficiently use company business system software. Good knowledge of proposal development processes. Expertise to write cross-sections of proposal sections/documents, as well as reports and business correspondence. Communication, tact, and people skills to work with all levels of staff and leadership, within and outside the department; expertise to work with a diverse team, including managers and peers. Expertise to work with minimal supervision. Detail oriented. Complex reasoning and analytical abilities. Formal training or relevant background in proposal writing and development (e.g., Shipley or other proposal development courses) Preferred Skills Familiarity with PowerPoint, Microsoft Project. Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM software. Understanding of DoD acquisition processes relative to proposal development. Awareness of aviation, computer modelling and simulation, training services industries. Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all info and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any info, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge details outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary info will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources. Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
