Job Title: Project Coordinator – Student Programs FLSA Classification: Exempt Reports To: Pro Bono Director Compensation: $68,000.00 to $79,550.38 Annually, DOE + Benefits Inland Counties Legal Services (ICLS) is seeking a Pro Bono Coordinator-Student Programs to join its Pro Bono Team to innovate and coordinate ICLS’ Student Programs, which serve to expand ICLS’s capacity to serve clients and help educate future generations of lawyers and legal advocates. ICLS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing free legal services to people of limited means residing in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. ICLS targets services to seniors and those in the greatest social and economic need. ICLS provides legal assistance in eight practice groups: Elder, Family Law, Consumer, Housing, Immigration, Systemic & Impact Litigation, Health Law, and Public Benefits & Education; and a Pro Bono Program, operating volunteer-enhanced client programs, including Student Programs. Overview of Position & Responsibilities The core responsibilities for the Project Coordinator-Student Programs position are as follows: Helping to refine and implement the vision of ICLS’ Student Programs. Expanding and overseeing ICLS’ student programs, including the Summer Law Clerk Program; Fall, Spring & Winter Internship Programs; College Academy, and others. Developing strategies and procedures to identify opportunities to incorporate law student and other student volunteers throughout ICLS. Developing and managing an annual calendar reflecting ICLS’ Law Student Programs, with the goal of significantly expanding annual student opportunities and placements. Developing a strategic plan for building partnerships with law schools and universities, aimed at cultivating stronger community ties and expanded services. In partnership with ICLS’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee, developing strategies aimed at ensuring equitable student opportunities. With support from the Pro Bono Team, developing at least one legal clinic with a law school to be replicated throughout the year, and providing adequate training and oversight of students assisting on ICLS cases. With support from the Pro Bono Team, being responsible for student volunteers, including onboarding, training, case management as appropriate, collecting hours, enforcing policies and procedures involving law student volunteers, and collaborating with advocates at ICLS as needed. Assisting in developing strategies to increase funding for ICLS’ Student Programs, including with writing, implementation, and reporting to grantors and funders. Representing ICLS in the broader community as a leader for Law Student Programs. Desired Education, Skills, and Experience Bachelors or Associates degree, and at least 3-5 years of relevant work experience; Background in managing student programs preferred but not required; Basic understanding of volunteer “systems” in California (i.e., the manner in which private law attorneys are connected to low-income clients); Excellent writing, analytical, organizational, communication skills; ability to advocate persuasively for the program’s mission; Demonstrated commitment to legal services work; Demonstrated commitment to race, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and experience collaborating with individuals from diverse communities; Strong project management skills, including organization and ability to multi-task; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Ability to supervise volunteers, including students and paralegals; Ability to lead and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders; Ability to cultivate and develop pro bono and professional relationships; Ability to read, write, and communicate in English, with Spanish being a plus; and Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.
