Known for our customer service and quality products, Auer Steel has been operating since 1940. We are currently hiring a Product Specialist to work in our Plymouth, MN location. This position is best suited for an organized, responsible, and detail-oriented individual who is looking for a career within a well-established company. WHAT DOES THIS POSITION DO? The Product Specialist's role is to assist in achieving the business objectives, sales and marketing strategies of the assigned product lines. Work with the Sales and Marketing teams to create advertising plans, training and promotional programs related to all assigned product lines. Essential Functions: Provide pre-sale product application and specification guidance to internal and external customers. Assist in developing sales tools and promotional materials for assigned products and showcase the value and application of our offering. Analyze competitive products and competitive pricing. Confer with the buyers regarding stock levels, vendor preseason programs, inventory management (including the sale of surplus and slow-moving stock), and product updates to keep Auer Steel employees informed of changes or new developments Work with the training department to produce employee and customer training materials. Coordinate with the manufacturers to provide consistent training annually, based on customer feedback and Auer Steel's field experience. Assist in coordinating Vendor joint sales calls with the Auer Steel Sales Team. Work with the Auer Steel ecommerce team to ensure up to date data and images are displayed in our webstore. Work with the Marketing Team to maintain price pages for all assigned product lines. Non-essential Functions: Assist the product and purchasing teams in using the Auer Steel Product Review form for all new products being considered. Consider key points when negotiating with vendors. All product decisions should be made with both Milwaukee and Minneapolis locations in mind Act as a conduit from the vendor to Auer Steel and our customers for all vendor and product information and perform other tasks as assigned. WHAT IS REQUIRED? Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with additional higher-level coursework in marketing or purchasing. Requires two to three years' experience in wholesale sales, servicing, and installation of HVAC products to acquire necessary technical background and to perform work proficiently. High degree of professionalism and excellent interpersonal/communication skills Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional departments Excellent organizational skills are required Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel WHY JOIN AUER STEEL?
