Job Listing: Prep Cooks - Shedd Aquarium Job Overview : As a Prep Cook at Shedd Aquarium, you play a vital role in ensuring each meal meets our high standards of quality, taste, and presentation. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking simple menu items, and assisting with food assembly and plating, all while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Your attention to detail, dedication to food safety standards, and collaborative attitude help ensure that our guests have an exceptional dining experience every time. Essential Responsibilities: Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients and assemble simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, and sides in accordance with Sodexo Live!'s recipes and standards. Cooking & Plating: Grill, fry, and cook simple menu items, paying close attention to presentation and adhering to any special guest requests. Quality Control: Ensure each dish is prepared accurately, consistently, and in line with established guidelines to satisfy guest expectations. Communication & Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure food is served promptly, communicating effectively to maintain an organized and efficient kitchen. Cleanliness & Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness in food prep areas and adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a safe environment for both guests and team members. Problem Solving & Memorable Experiences: Act as a passionate problem solver and memory maker, going the extra mile to create a warm, welcoming experience for every guest, whether local or visiting. Key Attributes & Qualifications : Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience in food preparation in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Attention to Detail: Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain a high standard of food quality and presentation. Professional & Friendly Demeanor: You project a positive and approachable attitude that enhances each guest interaction, creating meaningful connections with visitors of all backgrounds. Can-Do Spirit: Eager to provide exceptional service, you go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience for each guest, demonstrating adaptability and attention to detail. Multi-Tasking & Fast-Paced Efficiency: Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy, high-energy environment. Excellent Communication Skills: Exhibits clear, patient, and engaging communication, with a natural ease in connecting with people and delivering superior guest service. Other Requirements : Able to operate safely and effectively in an environment with wet floors, temperature extremes, and noise, and can lift up to 50 pounds. Able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests.
