The successful candidate will play a vital role in safeguarding intellectual property and driving innovation within the pharmaceutical sector.DutiesAnalyze technical disclosures and conduct client interviews to gain insight into new inventions.Perform thorough searches of literature and patent databases to evaluate the patentability of proposed inventions.Compose detailed written assessments regarding the potential for obtaining patent protection.Draft patent applications with attention to detail and accuracy.Prepare comprehensive responses to communications from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Construct persuasive arguments for patentability to present to Patent Office Examiners.Review existing patents as part of the intellectual property due diligence process for potential mergers or acquisitions.RequirementsA Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Proven capability to work collaboratively within team environments.Demonstrated sound judgment, maturity, and a curiosity-driven approach to problem-solving.Strong interpersonal skills for effective engagement with business leaders, attorneys, scientists, engineers, inventors, and patent examiners.A robust work ethic with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.EducationPh.D. in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a relevant scientific area.CertificationsNo specific certifications are required, though relevant qualifications in patent law may be advantageous.SkillsStrong analytical and critical thinking skills.Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.Proficient in conducting research and synthesizing complex information.Ability to communicate intricate technical information clearly to a variety of audiences.BenefitsA comprehensive benefits package is provided, which includes health, dental, and retirement plans, among other offerings.
