Posting Title: Payroll Supervisor (Hybrid) Reports To: Payroll Director Location: San Jose, California Salary Range: $130,000 to $140,000Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience. THE FINANCE TEAM Our projects may be complex, but our approach is simple: we build great things and we do it with great people. The Finance team at Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI) provides employees, stakeholders and customers with timely and accurate financial information. The Finance Department is comprised of six teams: Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing, Collections, Payroll and Tax that work closely together to ensure compliance and the financial well-being of the company. ABOUT THE ROLE The Payroll Supervisor is a member of the payroll team who will ensure accurate and timely processing of CEI's multi-state payroll (multi-union, non-union, hourly, salary) on a weekly basis. You will lead a team of payroll processors and be responsible for providing payroll that adheres to government regulations, labor contracts, company policies and procedures. Scope: Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s). Complexity: Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities. Discretion: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization. Interaction: Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team. Supervision: Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing. In some instances, this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees. Manage workflow and review weekly payroll including payments, deductions, and taxes for accuracy within tight deadlines. Partner with IT, Finance, Legal, HR, Leadership and Field Operations as required Ensure compliance related to FLSA, State, Local and employment practices for a multi-state company. Understand full payroll cycle from timecards to GL and implications of changes to benefit plans/deductions and garnishments for employees and the company Understand and adhere to multiple union contract terms and conditions. Provide leadership and training of payroll team to ensure performance goals are met at employee and company levels. ABOUT YOU As a seasoned finance professional, you are comfortable leading a team and driving work performance to ensure timelines are met, and are committed to continuous improvement and best practices to improve efficiency. You bring more than 5 years of processing multi-state, union payroll for over 3,000 employees. The technical skillset you have includes Microsoft Office suite including pivot tables, v-loops, and JD Edwards experience (preferred). It is important you possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and communicate clearly and effectively at a professional level both written and orally. WHAT YOU WILL GAIN In this role, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge and expertise to the payroll function. As a partner across multiple teams including IT, Finance, Legal, HR, Leadership, and Field Ops, you will work to address and resolve discrepancies by promptly collecting and analyzing issues. As the Payroll Supervisor, you play an important role in ensuring compliance in regard to FLSA, State, Local, and employment practices for Cupertino Electric, who is a multi-state company. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or similar. Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent experience. 2 years of experience managing professional staff.#LI-JJ1 PLEASE NOTE: CEI will never ask for any money or financial information from applicants during the hiring process.
