Utility Supply & Construction Co (USC) is seeking to hire a Payroll Specialist to join our growing team! Essential Job Functions: Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions and garnishments. Review of electronic timecard entry, including ability to comprehend and apply multiple rules and exceptions. Audit data for consistency and accuracy. Respond to employee inquiries regarding, pay, payroll forms, procedures, or time software. Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately. Prepare special payments, complex pay and payroll deduction calculations ensuring compliance with company policies, union contracts and federal and state regulations. Prepare stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals and overpayment collections in accordance with company, federal, state and union regulations. Work under general supervision from a designated supervisor. Strong data entry skills and attention to detail, to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records related to payroll. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred. An associate degree combined with relevant experience may also be considered. Proven experience in payroll processing, typically 2-4 years in a similar role. Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar platforms). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with payroll software and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Strong understanding of payroll principles and union contracts. Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and payroll processing. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
