About the Role The Workday State and Local Government Sr Principal Payroll Deployment Strategist is a services leader who will have primary responsibility for guiding customers and project teams to successful value realization of the Workday solution within our State/Local government industry.This role will serve as a senior advisor to project teams, customers, and prospects, using their deep Payroll product, platform, and deployment expertise to: Review and recommend deployment approaches based on customer requirements and available functionality Provide project guidance based on product roadmap and customer requirements Drive State/Local Government industry strategy, solutions, and standards within the organization Collaborate closely with Solution Enablement and Product Management on critical SLG enhancement requests Validate design decisions and provide recommended workarounds where no delivered solution exists Engage in critical or urgent industry challenges Provide guidance on parallel test strategies Assess deployment readiness Support the Sales team on strategic pursuits The ideal candidate for this position will have a background in State/Local enterprise software payroll deployments, background in one or more functional areas of Workday, possess exceptional analytical abilities and payroll core expertise, exhibit a creative approach to problem solving, have technical and product proficiency and a gift for finding the details that matter.This is a senior level position that requires strong technical/functional, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, as well as business discernment. The candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability and perspective to understand, balance and prioritize the demands of multiple internal initiatives and customer projects.Project Guidance Act as a senior Workday industry representative for solution issues on large-scale sophisticated deployments Drive both high-level and detailed State & Local Government product and solution discussions with customers, partners and internal team members (e.g., Product Management, Support, Customer Success, Delivery, Consulting) Evaluate deployment decisions and provide guidance to the customer and project teams Identify, propose and implement improvements to design and configuration to meet customer requirements Work with project teams to identify alternate solutions when product gaps exist and will not be resolved by future development in a timely manner Validate deployment readiness based on design decisions and project progress Work with Customer Success and Engagement Manager to develop plans to turn around troubled deployments Work with Engagement Managers and Consulting leadership to identify critical gaps in partner deployments and help develop strategies to close those gaps Achieve utilization with an intentional, strategic focus that furthers industry strategy and success Sales Support Assist Services Executives with SOW's and project estimates where applicable Assist with sales teams where/when applicable on sales cycles which meet the criteria for deployment strategy involvement Review proposed timelines and resource plans to identify potential challenges in the deployment Support the Product Qualification process with review/analysis of potential gaps in product functionality Support for Consulting Ecosystem Partner with Solution Enablement and Outbound Product Management to ramp up State & Local Government product knowledge, deployment approaches and to ensure areas of customer concern are understood and documented Partner with Delivery Leaders and Product Management to resolve customer issues Collaborate with Sales and Product Industry strategists to define and realize industry strategy Assist Delivery Assurance group with deployment leading practices for Workday Work with the Practice Management team to ensure deployment methodology is being adhered to within the consulting ecosystem Keep up to date and provide feedback on feature designs, product roadmap and development progress of specific product area Develop and document industry leading practices and alternate solutions About You Basic Qualifications 5+ years implementing the Workday Payroll solution Experience with any of the following functional areas: Payroll, Time & Labor, Labor Costing, Labor Allocation, Payroll Accounting, Absence Management Other Qualifications Ability to work cross functionally with teams and understand the touchpoints between multiple functional areas such as HCM and Financials. Ability to thrive and excel in a lean, fast-paced and dynamic Workday product environment Consistent track record of consulting in complex product areas for customers for one or more of the Workday product areas Strong interpersonal, time management and presentation skills Experience in a liaison role with a software development team Must be passionate about cloud software, enjoys learning and has a deep understanding of software or technical solutions. Be passionate about product, technology, and meeting the business needs of our customers Be skilled in communications and human interaction so as to be viewed as a partner and asset to Product Management and Development Able to travel up to 50% of the time Have a passion for customer service! Workday Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
