The campus includesLevel II trauma capabilities, a Neuroscience Institute, The Heart &Vascular Hospital, a bariatrics program, the Breast Diagnostic Center, a woundcare center, a level III Neonatal ICU, and the area---s only pediatric emergencydepartment and pediatric ICU. --HCA HoustonHealthcare Clear Lake is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of theHCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network ofhospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imagingfacilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilitiesinclude: seventeen hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, thirteen off-campus emergencycenters, and a regional transfer center.----*** PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY ***----All NewHires will be required to attend a 4-week Star Tech Program.--The Star Tech Program is designed for certifiednursing assistants to work on Medical Surgical Nursing Units.--The program is comprised of didactic training, skills training,and clinical preceptorship at the sponsoring facility. Star Tech isconcentrated training prior to hospital employment. The licensed certifiednursing assistant is not only oriented to the facility in which he/she will beworking, but is better prepared for standard patient care assignments in anacute care setting upon successful completion of the 4-week program. --The 1st two weeks include a combination of didacticeducation and skills training. --The remaining 2 weeks are spent at the sponsoringfacility working with a hospital RN Preceptor and ---Certified Nurse AssistantBuddy---.--The Star Tech will work three twelve hour shifts during eachweek of the Clinical Preceptorship, which may include weekend shifts or nightshifts, based on the preceptorship schedule and needs of the nursing unit.--The Star Tech Program is based upon the standards established bythe State Boards of Nursing for C.N.A.---s. Many of the division and/or facilityspecific training initiatives will be incorporated into the curriculum as well.Learners will be BLS and CPI certified. Nursing assistants will be introducedand trained on the facility Electronic Health Record by HealthTrust.--HealthTrust Workforce is part of Parallon Business Solutions; asubsidiary of HCA (Hospital Corporation of America).--The participating nursing assistants make a one-yearcommitment work at the sponsoring hospital.
