The successful candidate will assist patent attorneys with preparing and prosecuting patent applications, collaborating closely with inventors, and supporting the identification and protection of patentable inventions. This role requires a strong background in science or engineering and experience in patent law.Duties and Responsibilities:Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.Collaborate with inventors to understand and document newly created products.Identify and evaluate patentable inventions and technologies.Research existing patents to aid in the patent application process.Draft patent applications with guidance from the patent team.Monitor the patent application process from submission to grant, ensuring timely progress.Perform patentability searches and analyze results.Address client challenges and respond to their needs effectively.Handle office actions and communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Consistently meet or exceed billable hour requirements.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.Master’s Degree or PhD is preferred.USPTO Registration is required.Minimum of 1 year of professional experience; 2+ years preferred.Background in electrical engineering or biotechnology is advantageous.Prior experience in patent law is preferred.Skills:Strong analytical and research skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Proficiency in drafting patent applications and responding to office actions.Ability to work collaboratively with inventors and patent attorneys.Effective organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Location: Wilmington, DE
