Practice Area: Patent Agents - Electrical Engineering,Patent Agents - Computer Science,Patent Agents - Computer Engineering, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 3 Years, Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a Patent Agent with a background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science to join its Patent Prosecution and Counseling group. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in patent application drafting and prosecution, with a preference for experience in software or AI-related areas. This position offers the opportunity to work in either the Washington, D.C. or New York office, with a focus on intellectual property matters.Location:New York City, NYDuties:Draft and prosecute patent applications, particularly in the fields of electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.Manage patent portfolios and provide strategic advice to clients on patent-related matters.Conduct legal research and analysis on patent laws and intellectual property issues.Assist clients in navigating patent filing processes, including working with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Collaborate with attorneys and other team members on intellectual property cases.Requirements:A minimum of three years of experience as a patent agent.Experience in patent application drafting, particularly in software and/or AI-related areas (preferred).USPTO examiner experience is strongly preferred.Strong academic credentials.Excellent writing and analytical skills.Education:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.Certifications:Registered as a Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).Skills:Expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to manage multiple patent-related tasks and client matters efficiently.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance.401(k) retirement plan.Paid time off and additional benefits based on firm policies.
