Part Time Bus Driver (Seasonal: May-December) 8.5 Hours per week Monday to Thursday: 2:45pm to 3:45pm ; Saturday 9:15am to 2:15pm $22.50 per hour Elmer Chocolate is the oldest family-owned chocolate company in the USA. Our factory in Ponchatoula is the 2nd-largest manufacturer of Valentine boxed chocolate in North America. Elmer's employs adult seasonal workers who live together in a housing complex and do not have personal transportation. We use a company bus to transport employees to and from our factory and to a weekly grocery trip. Weekly Pay Monthly employee appreciation events Free chocolate Education and Work Experience: Must be 21+ years old. High School education or GED Previous bus driving experience preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to pass post-offer and annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) clearance to operate company vehicles. Ability to pass Dept. of Transportation (DOT) drug/alcohol screens at any time (company paid). Communication proficiency: verbal and writing Basic knowledge of Spanish language a plus. Excellent attendance and safety record is required. Valid CDL Commercial Driver's License with endorsements for S (school bus) and P (passenger). Ability to pass a criminal background check upon hire and annually. Ability to identify, evaluate, and problem solve. Ability to follow and read instructions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Drives company passenger bus to transport passengers to and from job site. Transport passengers to and from weekly shopping trip. Directs passengers with and without baggage. Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort. Complies with local traffic regulations. Completes daily mileage log. Drives bus to local vendor for refueling as needed. Reports delays or accidents. Reports if any repairs are needed. Inspects bus according to pre-operational check list. Ensure all personal effects are properly stowed for safe passenger transport. Lives and communicates Elmer Chocolate Values; our guiding principles. Physical Requirements to Perform this Job: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to have the ability to sit; stoop, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, crawl, use force, carry & push/pull. Ability to hear and speak. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regular and prompt attendance on site is required. Work drug & alcohol free according to DOT regulations. Reliable transportation. Tentative Daily Schedule: Mon-Thurs 2:45pm - Inspect & board bus at Elmer's factory- 401 N. 5th St. Ponchatoula, LA 3:00pm - Load day shift employees at the factory & drive approximately 2 miles north to housing complex. Offload. 3:15pm - Load night shift employees at the housing complex and drive back to factory. Offload. 3:30-3:45pm - Park bus, complete any paperwork, conclude shift. Saturdays 9:30am- Inspect & board bus at Elmer's factory. Drive approximately 2 miles to housing complex. 9:45am- Pick up employees and drive to Wal-Mart in Ponchatoula. Offload. 10am- 2pm- *All employees and groceries will not fit in one trip, so make multiple trips between Wal-Mart and the housing complex until everyone has completed their shopping and is back at the housing complex.* 2pm- Return to factory, park bus, complete any paperwork, conclude shift.
