SSVEC is a not for profit, member‐owned distribution cooperative providing electricity to more than 51,000 services over some 4,100 miles of energized line. Located in southeastern Arizona. SSVEC is dedicated to community growth, quality of life and a positive vision for the future. Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Overhead Line Inspector. The Overhead Line Inspector performs pole by pole inspections of overhead Transmission and Distribution lines and equipment including the inspection of secondary overhead lines and equipment. The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. Must be able to distinguish live line parts, voltages and approach distances in overhead and underground facilities. Observe and report any defective, unsafe, or abnormal conditions of the cooperative's lines and equipment. Public safety hazards must be reported by direct communication to the proper personnel immediately for rectification. Assist in maintaining the integrity of overhead transmission and distribution system (i.e. installing guy guards, fixing guy wires, pole tags, location numbers and safety signage). Maintains the integrity of SSVEC's GIS/GPS mapping systems by reporting incorrect data to the Mapping department. Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5 years of line related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Arizona CDL is required. Completion of Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship. Must be familiar with RUS Material Specifications, the National Electrical Safety Code and SSVEC's Service Rules and Regulations. Must know CPR, pole-top and bucket rescue, and First Aid. Must be climbing certification that conforms with OSHA standards.
