Job ID #: 20597 Location: TX-HOUSTON Functional Area: Misc./Trades Job type: Full-time Background Required: one - 3yrs Relocation Provided: No Education Required: High-school diploma RC/Department: 6631 -GULFBULK LCRC & RAIL REPAIR :TXTRM Position details Primary Purpose: - Work with crews loading/unloading, switching, & spotting railcars - Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as but not limited to locomotive, overhead gantry crane, front end loader, man-lift, excavator, forklift, and hand tools - Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk handling equipment - Assist in the transportation and movement of petroleum coke - Service and lubricates machines and equipment, operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications - General cleanup of petcoke thru the use of front end loader/skid steer, shovels, and water hose, cleans and perform basic housekeeping duties - Notify crew leader or supervisor of breakdowns or malfunctions - Maintain radio communication with crews to insure proper operation - Understand inspection procedures and inspection reports on equipment - Performs equipment preventive maintenance, i.e.: lubricating, cleaning, adding gear lubricants, and documents all activity performed. - Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on crane, front-end loader, equipment, and crusher daily. Position responsibilities - High-school/GED; and one - three years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and background - In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required - Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's driver license and have the willingness to use personal and/or company vehicle in the course of employment - Must obtain Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Kinder Morgan at all locations - Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours during the week and/or weekends as dictated by operations - Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on info, and follow work rules Preferred Background, Skills and Knowledge -Heavy equipment operator certification for equipment (locomotive, skid steer, excavator) being operated and when required -Background in handling railcars, spotting and performing switching operations - Must be willing and able to work as a part of team. - Treat people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values. - Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizers schedules of other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans. - Keep required job schedules Physical qualifications: - Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 ft, moving mechanical parts, moving on track rail equipment, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and uneven terrain.
