Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates ability to screen, select appropriate assessment tools and evaluate the occupational performance of children in an educational setting.Demonstrates ability to acquire information about students' functional skills, roles, and context.Demonstrates ability to prioritize needs and synthesize information obtained from the occupational profile for the effective treatment planning process.Demonstrates ability to select effective treatment strategies that are developmentally appropriate and educationally relevant towards the long-term goals.Demonstrates ability to develop, modify and execute treatment plans considering best practices, evidence-based and clinical reasoning.Demonstrates ability to execute meaningful and effective treatment plans per student's IEP.Demonstrates ability to clearly and confidently articulate information and assessment results through written and oral reports that reflect the following criteria: specific, objective, organized, free from grammatical errors, readable for all and other non-professional readers, and adheres to the policies and procedures of the organization, AOTA, and Maryland OT guidelines.Maintains well-written documentation, including daily service trackers, quarterly progress reports, billing, and IEP documentation according to the policies and procedures of the school and Maryland OT guidelines.Demonstrates ability to collaborate and consult with families and other professionals to identify students' current needs and prioritization of educationally relevant treatment goals.Demonstrates ability to employ effective problem-solving strategies emphasizing individual self-direction and flexibility.Proactively responds to environmental stressors, challenging student behaviors, and multiple demands of working in a school setting.Adheres to all the identified policies and procedures related to compliance and safety guidelines.Participates in planning and regularly reviews professional growth plans.CompetenciesTo perform the job successfully, an individual will retain accountability for the following Key Result Areas (KRAs).Key Result Area #1: DocumentationTimely development, collaboration, and writing of IEPsTimely completion of quarterly progress reports for each student within their IEPCompleting accurate and timely service notes and service trackersKey Result Area # 2: ServiceProviding services as mandated in each student's IEPConsulting with classroom staff regarding student services and interventions to assist with student success.Key Result Area # 3: CommunicationCollaboration with the IEP TeamCommunicating with parents/guardians concerning student progress and interventions to assist student success and completing documentation of communication services in the electronic record and/or school databases.Providing discipline-specific expertise through collaboration with other team members, including classroom staff.Maintain open lines of communication with supervisor and keep supervisor updated.Key Result Area # 4: Professional GrowthParticipate in school-based professional development and orientation training.Complete annual training required by the organization and regulatory bodies.Attend external training, webinars, and/or courses to maintain licensure.Participate in supervision sessions and school meetings.Education and/or ExperiencePossess a Bachelor's or Masters Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program. A minimum of one year of experience working with children with disabilities is preferred.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsPossess a valid certificate from the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) or eligible for certification.Possess a current (or temporary) Maryland State license as an Occupational Therapist or eligible for certification.Certified in or eligible for certification in crisis management.Certified in or eligible for certification in CPR/First Aid.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
