Position Announcement: NJC Diesel Faculty Northeastern Junior College is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as a member of the auto/diesel faculty team and specifically instruct in diesel mechanics. Faculty members are expected to create a positive and active learning environment in their classroom and laboratory. They should have high expectations of their students and themselves. Faculty members must realize that they contribute directly to student success and retention based on their abilities in the classroom. They must treat all students fairly and with respect. Faculty members must understand that students have different learning styles and must strive to provide variation in their teaching methods so that all students have the opportunity to learn and succeed. They must cooperate with other faculty, staff, and the community to make it possible for NJC to achieve its stated vision and philosophy. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be: Teaching a full academic load of 30 credit hours per year in diesel mechanics, including classroom and laboratory instruction in the shop. Provide effective instruction as measured by student success and persistence rates Develop and maintain current curriculum and assessment criteria for courses Participate in department and college committees and meetings Conduct student advising Earn and maintain required ASE certifications for accreditation. What You Will Need: Northeastern Junior College seeks employees dedicated to the education and support of our students and community. A commitment to positive attitude, cooperation and participation is a key attribute of our team. What We Require: Technical expertise in the repair and maintenance of equipment & vehicles. Ability to obtain ASE Certifications in Medium-Heavy Truck Certification Tests (T1 - T8) and/ or ASE certification in G1, A6, and in the automobile area (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A7, and A8) depending on the instructor qualifications and the course taught. The department will pay the testing fees upon employment Instructors teaching Engine Performance must also be ASE certified in L1 - Advanced Engine Performance Must qualify for a Colorado Career & Technical Credential by being able to document 4,000 hours of paid work experience in the light duty and/or heavy duty repair industries Experience with a variety of hand held and laptop diagnostic tools Ability to effectively communicate in a variety of settings with a diverse audience Must have a valid driver's license What We Can Offer: This is a faculty position with an annual contract of approximately 163 days per year. The first year may require 5-8 additional paid days for faculty orientation and instruction before the fall term. Annual salary is $48,000-$54,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
