JOB TITLE: MIG Welder OPEN POSITIONS: 1 JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt LOCATION: Parsons, Kansas REPORTS TO: Fabrication Foreman Magnum Systems, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and certified TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) Welder to join our team at our Parsons, KS facility. SUMMARY The MIG Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding tasks using MIG welding techniques on various metal components and structures. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, setting up welding equipment, and ensuring that welds meet specific quality and safety standards. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Set up and operate MIG welding machines and equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements. Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, or cutting as needed. Monitor and adjust welding parameters, such as voltage, wire speed, and gas flow, to ensure optimal weld quality. Perform welding on various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) in different positions (flat, vertical, overhead). Inspect completed welds for defects and ensure they meet quality standards. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety protocols and regulations. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project deadlines. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with welding equipment and work processes. Document work performed, including materials used and any discrepancies in welding outputs. QUALIFICATIONS Required: High School Diploma or GED 5 years' experience as a MIG welder or in a similar welding position Preferred: Vocational training in welding. Certification in MIG welding (e.g., AWS certified) is a plus. SKILL REQUIREMENTS Proficiency in MIG welding techniques and equipment. In-depth knowledge of welding techniques, processes, and safety practices. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards in welding operations. Ability to assess weld quality and identify and rectify defects. Familiarity with different types of metals and welding processes. Basic mathematical skills for measuring and calculating specifications. Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting welding issues. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. Skilled in operating and maintaining welding equipment and related tools. Physical stamina and dexterity to perform welding tasks for extended periods. High level of professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic. WORK ENVIRONMENT Operates in a manufacturing environment. Requires the use of personal protective equipment (such as safety glasses with side shields, safety footwear, hearing protection, etc.). Is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS Lifting, carrying, and/or moving up to 70 lbs. Frequent standing (up to 100%). Occasional squatting and sitting. Ability to use hands and fingers for holding, carrying, grasping, pinching, pulling, pushing; rotating fingers, wrists, and hands; manipulation of machine controls, tools, and parts. Ability to identify parts and tools, observe operations of machine, and visually inspect completed parts.
