Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated Middle Mile Operations Manager to oversee the daily activities of our new Middle Mile division. This role involves managing approximately 35 full truckload (FTL) shipments per week, coordinating with carriers, optimizing routes, managing billing, and leading a team of dispatchers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for logistics, a strategic mindset, and a proven ability to lead and innovate. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of linehaul carriers and dispatch staff to ensure efficient operations and timely execution.Monitor and track shipments, providing real-time updates to clients and internal stakeholders.Address and resolve service failures promptly, collaborating with other departments to maintain operational excellence.Develop and implement contingency plans for disruptions such as vehicle breakdowns, adverse weather, or accidents.Plan, optimize, and monitor linehaul routes to ensure timely and cost-effective freight delivery.Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency and identify improvement areas.Manage relationships with third-party carriers, ensuring compliance with company standards for on-time performance.Negotiate rates with asset-based providers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service.Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to team members, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.Stay updated on the latest transportation technologies and best practices, recommending new processes or tools to enhance efficiency. Requirements: Proven experience in logistics, transportation, or a related field, preferably in middle-mile or linehaul operations.Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams and driving performance.Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.Knowledge of route optimization, carrier management, and logistics technology.Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and act on operational data.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
